A Student Perspective

This post features student writing.

After arriving at Le Conquet, a small fishing village on the coast of Bretagne, we were amazed by the spectacular views of la mer and the rich history. We quickly recovered from the exhausting train ride grâce à L’Auberge Keringar and their hospitality. We took in the beautiful views by biking all over the curvy roads with the cool wind. Completing a scavenger hunt in town, eating lots of crème brûlée and desserts (loaded with du beurre et du sucre), and visiting the beach were just some of the highlights. We completed une stage (internship) with local business owners and then replenished with fresh peaches and Camembert at our various picnics. With spotty WiFi in the countryside, we embraced the local culture and recounted history by visiting a former Nazi German bunker used while occupying France during La Deuxième Guerre Mondiale from 1939-1945. It was converted into a museum of memories from the war with personal histories and artifacts. I will never forget the breathtaking views from the lighthouse in Saint-Mathieu to the top of rocks along the beach. Off to Parisian life now!

One of the tasks of the local scavenger hunt was to take a group photo of everyone jumping. Pictured from left: Maddy, Dahlia, Kate, and Ila.
